Robert "Bob" Edward Evans

Marion, North Carolina

Robert “Bob” Edward Evans, 86, of Marion, North Carolina, passed away Friday, February 11, 2022 at Autumn Care of Marion.

 

He was born in Ithaca, New York on July 02, 1935 to the late Raymond Evans and Zada Lobdell Evans.

 

Bob was a truck driver for most of his life. He truly loved his work and often donated his services to the needy. He also served in the United States Marine Corps. He loved to cook and bake and will be remembered for his pies. Bob enjoyed feeding raccoons and other wildlife as well as camping with his children. He was also a big joker.

 

Bob was a faithful member of Old Fort Free Will Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon. He loved reading his Bible and listening to gospel music. Together with his wife, they did nursing home ministry for many years. He also prepared and sent out Christian literature to family and friends.

 

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wives, Mary Evans and Carolyn Evans; two sisters, Marian and Joy; and a special cousin, Ruby.

 

He is survived by five children, Russell Evans (Debbie), Kathy Wechsler (Greg), Tina Slagle, Ginger Burgin (Scott), and David Davis (Pam); six grandchildren, Kristen Evans (Harley), Richard Joyner (Jamie), Aleesia (Slagle), Joshua Slagle (Deanna), Shannon Burgin, and Kelly Davis; and four great grandchildren, Logan, Evan, Joseph, Luca.

 

A private funeral service will be held in the Chapel of Beam Funeral Service with Pastor Jerry McClain officiating. Burial will follow at Bethlehem Community Cemetery.
