Robert Ray Bechtel

     Robert Ray Bechtel, 97, of Black Mountain, formerly of Michigan, passed away Sunday morning, July 9, 2023 at Mountain Ridge Health and Wellness Center.

     Mr. Bechtel was born in Michigan on April 13, 1926. He served his country proudly in the United States Navy and was a member of the United Methodist Church. He worked on a dude ranch in Gaylord, Michigan for many years, and later worked for the city of Detroit for many years. Mr. Bechtel was a collector of antiques and relics and was very good with his hands. He will be greatly missed.

     Mr. Bechtel was preceded in death by two sisters. He is survived by a niece and nephew.

     A memorial service will be held at 4:00 p.m., Wednesday, August 2, 2023, at the Chapel of Beam Funeral Service. Rev. David Miner will officiate. Visitation will be from 3:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m., prior to the service, at the funeral home.
