Richard Edward Styles

Richard Edward Styles, 84, of Marion, passed away in the early morning hours of Friday, September 4, 2026 at Mountain Ridge Health & Rehabilitation.

Richard was born June 25, 1942 to the late Helen Styles Carver, and he was lovingly raised by his maternal grandparents, the late Ed Styles and Elmina Reese Styles. Additionally, he was preceded in death by his wife, Kaye Frances Hensley Styles; one son, Jimmy Styles; and one great-grandson, Canaan Sayles.

He worked for a number of years in the construction industry before later beginning a career at Marion Correctional Institution where he later retired. An avid gardener, Richard enjoyed spending time working outdoors and sharing the fruits of his labor with others. He shared breakfast daily with special friends known as the “Hardee’s Crew” at the Hardee’s on 226 where he was loved by all. He loved his family, and he especially adored his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Those left to cherish his memory are two sons, Ricky Styles (Pam) and Johnny Styles (Sabrina); four grandchildren, Courtney Sayles (Caleb), Caleb Styles (Mary), Olivia Piercy (Zachary), and Jeremiah Styles (Taylor); three great-grandchildren, Emily Sayles, Ezra Sayles, Kohen Piercy, and Mason who is on the way; two brothers, Jimmy Carver and Jerry Carver; two sisters, Edith Jones and Betty Springer; and his canine companion, Sadie.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, September 8, 2026 from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. at Beam Funeral Service. A funeral service will begin at noon with Pastor Doug McPeters officiating. Burial will follow at Harmony Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of Mountain Ridge who took exceptional care of Richard.

The family will gather at the home of Johnny and Sabrina Styles.
