Marion

Richard Darrell Bailey, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and brother, passed away on February 7, 2026, at his residence, surrounded by his beloved family. Born on December 9, 1956, in McDowell County, Richard's life was characterized by his love for family and a commitment to his work.

Richard was a partner of Bailey Seamless Guttering along with his son Adam, where he dedicated his skills and expertise to serving the community. His entrepreneurial spirit and work ethic were admired by many and left a lasting impact on those who knew him professionally.

Deeply proud of his family, Richard found immense joy in watching his grandchildren play sports, cheering them on as they pursued their passions. He loved cruising with friends and family, creating cherished memories that will be treasured for generations. Music was one of the ways his faith overflowed. He found great joy singing with the gospel group, The Joy Trio, where he shared not only his voice but his deep love for the Lord. His faith was not just something he spoke about, it was something he lived out daily, faithfully attending New Manna Baptist Church and pointing others toward Christ through both his words and his example.

He is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Shelia Martin Bailey; his daughters, Amber Wiseman (Gabriel), and Dr. Ashley Perkins (Tommy); and his son Adam Bailey (Taryn). Richard's legacy continues through his grandchildren: Bailey McNeely (Damon), Tinsley Wiseman, Geneva Marlowe (Caleb), Elvy Wiseman, Jagger Bailey, Jett Bailey, Marley Perkins, and Maddox Perkins. He also leaves behind his great-grandchildren, Emmie McNeely and Richard Jeffrey "RJ" McNeely, who were a source of great joy for him.

In addition to his immediate family, Richard is survived by his brothers, Carl Bailey, and John Bailey (Debbie); father-in-law Samuel Martin. With multiple nieces and nephews and close friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, William Broadus Bailey and Geneva Gaddy Bailey; his sister Martha Gail McFalls; and step-sister Jean Keeney.

Richard's departure is a tremendous loss for his family, friends, and all who loved him. He went to be with the Lord, leaving behind a legacy of love, family, and countless cherished memories. The visitation will be held on Thursday, February 12, 2026, from 12:00 - 2:00 p.m. at Beam Celebration Center in Marion, NC, where family and friends will gather to honor and remember his remarkable life.
