Rev. Charles Duyck, 89, of Old Fort, went to be with the Lord on Monday evening, January 15, 2024 at Mission Hospital in Asheville.
He was born in Buncombe County on June 18, 1934 to the late Lattie Duyck and Enoch Harwood Duyck. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Kathleen Duyck; grandson, Tyler Duyck; and all his siblings.
Rev. Duyck served at Kerlee Baptist Church in Black Mountain, Paint Fork Missionary Baptist Church in Barnardsville, and Brookside Baptist Church in Old Fort. He loved the Lord and was a wonderful pastor. He most recently was a member of Catawba Falls Baptist Church. Rev. Duyck conducted Bible studies at Mountain Ridge Wellness Center, Autumn Care, and Lake James Lodge which he thoroughly enjoyed. Aside from his work for the Lord, he enjoyed taking pictures and spending time in the woods. He will be missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by three children, David Duyck, Daniel Duyck (Terra), and Debra Duyck Haggins; five grandchildren, Maria Greene (Snapper), Tiffani Garcia (Chris), Caleb Duyck (Haley), Brandi Wilson (Caleb), and Tabitha Ford (Tyler); and nine great grandchildren, Micah Greene, Nicolas Greene, Kinsley Garcia, Hattie Garcia, Tucker Garcia, Emmie Duyck, Luke Duyck, Cali Wilson, and Lily Ford. There are also three great grandchildren on the way.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, January 19, 2024 at 3:00 p.m. at Kerlee Baptist Church, 208 Kerlee Heights Road in Black Mountain with Pastor Kenneth Rhinehart and Pastor Phillip Wishon, Sr. officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 3:00 p.m. at the church. Burial will be private at Bethlehem Community Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Gideon’s International.
