Reba Mae Lail Holmes, 96, of Marion, went to be with the Lord on the evening of Sunday, May 18, 2025 at Mountain Ridge Health & Rehabilitation.
She was born in Maiden, North Carolina on November 30, 1928 to the late Eck Lail and Maggie Viola Bell Lail.
Reba was a hard worker, and she held a career at Baxter Healthcare that spanned many years before her retirement. She was a wonderful mother who loved her family deeply. She had a remarkable ability to put others before herself, always prioritizing their needs and happiness. This selflessness endeared her to many, and she leaves behind a legacy of love and care that will surely be remembered by all who knew her.
Reba was also a proud member of the Redeemed Free Will Baptist Church, where her love for the Lord and her church family was evident in everything she did. Her faith was a cornerstone of her life, guiding her through her whole life until the end.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Edward Holmes; two brothers, Frank Lail and Leon Lail; and one sister, Velma Nichols.
Left to cherish her memory are her four children, Ronnie Holmes (Florine), Marcia Holmes, Renee Whitson (John), and Eddie Holmes (Tammy); six grandchildren, Timothy Holmes (Crystal), April Roland (Rodney), Jeremy Lamb (Kathy), Jamie Yelton (Earl), Ashley Beach (Jonathan), and Heather Holmes; twelve great-grandchildren; four great-great grandchildren; one brother, Teddy Lail; one sister, Kathy Rhodes; and a sister-in-law, Johnsie Lail.
The family will receive friends on Friday, May 23, 2025 from 1:00 until 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Beam Funeral Service. The funeral service will begin at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Jerry McClain and Rev. Larry Cable officiating. Burial will follow at McDowell Memorial Park.
Flowers are accepted and appreciated; however, those wishing to make a memorial donation are asked to consider CarePartners Hospice & Palliative Care- McDowell.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of Mountain Ridge for the excellent measure of care extended to Reba in her final days.
