Raymond Alexander Epley

Raymond Alexander Epley, born March 13, 1944, in Burke County, passed away on September 10, 2026.

Raymond will be remembered as a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He enjoyed storytelling and was known for sharing his memories.  He was also a U.S. Army veteran, and that service remained an important part of his life.

He loved restoring and working on classic cars, a pastime that reflected both his skill and his enjoyment of hands-on work. After retiring at the age of 62, he especially treasured the time he spent with his wife, and those years together were a meaningful and happy part of his life.

Raymond is survived by his wife of 61 years, Jo Anne Epley. He also leaves behind his son, Russell Epley, and wife, Shanda; his daughter, Becky Shehan, and husband, Bobby; his brothers, Joe Epley and Nelson Epley and wife Linda. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Lillie Epley, Caroline Epley, Riley Shehan and his wife, Elizabeth, and Kylea Webb and her husband, Cameron. His memory will also be cherished by his great-granddaughters, Marlea, Audrea, and Ellea.

A private memorial service will be held on Tuesday, September 15, 2026.

Raymond’s life was marked by devotion to his family, pride in his service, and joy in the simple and lasting pleasures that mattered most to him. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew him.
