Ransom Floyd Hicks

August 4, 1950 — February 10, 2023

Marion, North Carolina

Ransom “Sam” Hicks, 72, of Marion, passed away Friday, February 10, 2023 at McDowell Hospital. He was born in McDowell County to the late Floyd Etis Hicks and Laura Woody Hicks.

 

Mr. Hicks was a proud Veteran who served in Vietnam, where he received the Bronze Star. He was known as a loving husband, father and grandfather

He loved the outdoors, fishing and hunting. He loved speed, both in cars and boats. Ransom also was a member of Harvest Time Baptist Church.

 

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Peggy Marlowe Hicks; daughter, Kristi Hicks Lankford (Russell); step-daughters, Quinci Elliott (Matt) and Jessica Carter (Ted); three grandchildren, Gage Parkins, Katie Davis (Blake) and Abbie Brown (Jacob); step-grandchildren, Haley Carter, Kendall Carter, Dayton Elliott and Reid Elliott; great-grandchild, Brynlee Brown.

 

Celebration of Life service will be held Wednesday, February 15, 2023 at 2:00 PM at Harvest Time Baptist Church with Rev. Trent McKeehan, Rev. T. Jay Addison and Rev. Larry Gentry officiating. Burial will follow at McDowell Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 1-2 PM prior to the service hour at the church.
