Peggy Wilson

     Peggy Lucille Sumner Wilson, 93, of Marion, passed away Thursday, March 14, 2024, at Willow Ridge Rehabilitation & Living Center in Rutherfordton.

     Peggy was born in Bat Cave, NC on February 27, 1931, to the late Henry Sumner and Garnold Dotson Sumner. Peggy was a member of Oakley Baptist Church in Asheville. She was a very compassionate in-home patient caretaker for many years. Prior to her career in health care, she worked in her family’s gift shops around the Chimney Rock area. Peggy was a fan of sports, especially the Carolina Tarheels and Atlanta Braves. She touched the hearts of many people throughout her life. She will be greatly missed. 

     In addition to her parents, Peggy was preceded in death by her step mother, Malvin Sumner; and two sisters, Doris Wilson and Betty Meliski.

     She is survived by a son, Bryan Wilson (Joy); a grandson, Derek Wilson (Kristen); a granddaughter, Dell Wilson; and two great granddaughters, Brynnley and Brantley Wilson. 

     A private family memorial service will be held at a later date.
