Peggy Smith Mills

Peggy Smith Mills, born on December 18, 1953, in McDowell County, passed away peacefully at her residence on January 6, 2026. She will be remembered for her big heart and caring spirit. Peggy possessed an innate ability to listen, always offering support and comfort to those around her. She dedicated herself to taking care of others.

Peggy was a skilled craftswoman who enjoyed sewing, quilting, and doing crafts. These hobbies not only expressed her creativity but also provided joy to her family and friends, who cherished her creations.

 Peggy is survived by her husband, William "Hank" Mills. She was a proud mother to her children, Travis Webb, Allen Webb (Angela), and Shane Webb (Vada) along with her stepchildren, Tommy Mills, Shannon Mark Mills, and Pam Ward (Mike). Her family tree extended with 13 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren who will carry her spirit forward.

Peggy is also survived by her siblings: Jay Harold Smith, Betty Silver, Darrell Smith, and Stoney Smith.  

She was predeceased by her parents, James Smith and Maybelle Worley Smith; her son, Jesse Webb; stepson, Jeffrey Mills; sister Patsy Smith and brother Ray Smith. 

Friends and family are invited to celebrate Peggy's life on Saturday, January 10, 2026, with a visitation starting at 10:00 AM followed by a funeral service at 11:00 AM at the Beam Funeral Service & Crematory in Marion. Burial will take place following the service at Smith Hill Cemetery.

Peggy Smith Mills will be deeply missed by all whose lives she touched.
