Peggy Lou McKinney Carroll

     Peggy Lou McKinney Carroll, 79, of Marion, passed away Wednesday, December 6, 2023, at Grace Hospital in Morganton.

     Peggy was born in Mitchell County, NC on October 17, 1944, to the late Carl McKinney and Bonnie Wilson McKinney, and was a longtime member of Chestnut Grove Baptist Church in Little Switzerland. She was married to her husband of 61 years, Burdette Carroll. Peggy enjoyed listening to bluegrass music while relaxing with her family and her cat, Frosty. She also enjoyed watching Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy with her husband. Most of all, Peggy loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren, all of whom, were the light of her life. She will be greatly missed.  

     In addition to her parents, Peggy was preceded in death by a sister, Betty McKinney Banner.

     Those left to cherish her memory include her husband, Burdette Carroll; two daughters, Marsha Carroll and Lisa Mclean (Brian); a son, Christopher Carroll; six grandchildren, Trevor Bingham, Kyle Bingham, Jonathan Carroll, Matthew Carroll, Ivy McClure (Branson), and Emma Carroll; two great grandchildren, Riley Bingham and Tegan McClure; two nieces, Dici McClellan (Gerald) and Tracy Trefrey; and the family’s lifelong friend, Robert Fortune.

     A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Monday, December 11, 2023, at Missionary Alliance Church in Marion. Revs. Doug Carroll and Charles Carroll will officiate. Burial will follow at McDowell Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m., prior to the service, at the Church.

     The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at Grace Hospital, and to Dr. Kirkland, for the dedicated and loving care Peggy received.
