Pearl Bailey Reid

Pearl Bailey Reid, 96 of Marion passed into the arms of her Savoir, Jesus Christ, on the morning of August 30, 2026 with her family by her side.

Pearl was born in Mitchell County on September 29, 1929 to the late John and Pansy Canipe Bailey.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Ervin Reid, Jr. two sisters Hettie Vance and Ruby Bartlett, four brothers, Deford, John, Rex and Roy Bailey.

Pearl was a loving mother, granny, and home maker. She grew up in a family of ten children where she becomes a great cook, especially know for her biscuits. Pearl was a member of Yancey Street Baptist Church and was saddened when she was no longer able to attend.

Left to cherish her memory are three daughters, Brenda Price and husband Mike, Ann Thurston and husband Steve, all of Marion, Gail Reid Vess of Glen Alpine, and son Thomas Reid of Marion.

Four grandchildren, Ben Vess, and Kevin Price of Marion, Brandi Burleson of Nashville, Tennessee, and Tyrell Thurston of Old Fort. Four great grandchildren, Samantha and Brayden Vess, Mackenzie and Carter Price; two sisters Lillian Ledford and Linda Buchanan and one brother, Robert Bailey.

A service to celebrate her life will be held on September 3, 2026 at Yancey Street Baptist Church with Reverend Dean Owenby officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 2:00 one hour prior to the service. Internment will follow at West Court Baptist Church Cemetery.

In Lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Gideons International PO Box 1788, Marion, NC 28752.

The family also wishes to extend their thanks to Care Partners Hospice & Palliative Care for the excellent care they gave to their mother.
