Pearl Gouge Martin



Pearl Gouge Martin, 94, of Marion, North Carolina, passed away Tuesday, January 05, 2021.


A native of McDowell County, she was the daughter of the late Genett Gouge Hollar.


Pearl was retired from Burlington Industries and was an active member of the First Free Will Baptist Church for 25 years.


In addition to her mother, she is preceded in death by her husband of 75 years, Carl W. Martin.


Saddened by this loss are two daughters, Patricia Elliott and Betty M. Jackson (Joe); three grandchildren, Jeff Kelly (Vandera), Kim Burkett, and Chris Elliott (Christine); and four great grandchildren, Brittany Francher (Drew), Blake Burkett, Mason Elliott, and Connor Elliott.


A private service will be held, and burial will be at McDowell Memorial Park.


The family would like to thank Dr. Mark Burton and his staff for the excellent care they gave their mother.

Pearl, So glad I got to see, & talk toack doorback doo you last June; when I was passing through. You hung out the back door; & I was down the driveway. We'll miss you, RIP,

Betty and Pat, My heart goes out to you and your family. She will be greatly missed. I will never forget bringing Johnny with me for a visit. She told Johnny how great it was to see him. Then she turned to me to tell me I was in trouble for not coming by sooner. We will miss her n Carl's sharp minds. Love ya all

I am so sorry to hear about your precious mother. I loved her and your Dad so very much. Such wonderful memories of my childhood growing up with them being such special friends with my Mom and Dad.
Im sure Carl was so happy to see the love of his life again in Heaven.

Dear Family, So sorry for your loss. Your Parents & I were neighbors at one time at West Marion. They were so kind to me and I always enjoyed seeing them out. They knew my parents when they were young and they never failed to ask about them. They were just lovely people.
