Pearl always lived up to the name her father chose for her because she was a precious jewel hidden inside a rough exterior. She used her sharp wit and quirky sense of humor to mask the soft heart hidden inside. Pearl's home was always a welcoming refuge for relatives, friends and the many strays she picked up over the years. You could show up at her door and she would take you in and find you a bed, couch or maybe a pallet on the floor if that was the only place left because her home was always full of people. I always loved sitting around her kitchen table watching as she made the most amazing meals all while talking, joking, and hurling insults at us all. If you were ever lucky enough to eat at Pearl Smith's table you know what love tastes like.
Pearl was my best friend for more than 30 years and I know she hated goodbyes so I won't say that to her now, I'll just tell her what I always have..............
Later Pearl
