Paul Edward Stevens

Paul Edward “Goat” Stevens, age 86, passed away at his residence, with his loving family by his side on Sunday, November 13, 2016. A native of McDowell County, he was born on April 29, 1930 to the late Fred and Laura Harkelrode Stevens.

Paul was a member of Gethsemane Free Will Baptist Church and retired from Southern Devices following many years of service. He was an avid fisherman and hunter. Paul lived a great life and he and his wife Betty were always together.

Paul is preceded in death by a son, Danny Edward Stevens.

Left to cherish Paul’s memory is his loving wife of 67 years, Betty Jo Duncan Stevens; one sister, Lois Randolph; two grandsons, Danny Stevens, Jr. and Brian Edward Stevens; also surviving are three great-grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.

A celebration of Paul’s life will be held on Tuesday, November 15, 2016 at 3:00 p.m. at Gethsemane Free Will Baptist Church with Reverends Ralph Reep and Richard Anderson officiating. The family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. prior to the service at the church. Interment will follow at McDowell Memorial Park.
