Paul Allen Burnette

Paul Allen Burnette, 74, of Old Fort, North Carolina, passed away Saturday, July 09, 2022 at the Charles George VA Medical Center.

A native of McDowell County, he was born August 13, 1947 to the late Paul Thomas and Evelyn Stroud Burnette.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a wife Sherry Hendley Burnette; a sister, Katheryn “Dib”.

Mr. Burnette was a very proud Vietnam Veteran, and proudly served in U.S. Army, and National Guard. His love for handling heavy machinery and farming equipment was unsurpassed.

He is survived by Step Daughter Nova Effler (Robbie); granddaughter Erika “Punkin” Effler, who was the light of his life; sister Jean Gibbs (Larry) and three nieces, one nephew and many cousins.

A graveside service will be held on Wednesday July 13, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. at the Western Carolina State Veterans Cemetery with the Reverend Drew Dalton officiating. Interment will follow with military honors.
