Patsy Benfield Lee, age 86, passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 9, 2026, at UNC Health Blue Ridge in Burke County.

Born on April 11, 1940, Patsy was the daughter of the late Daniel Boone Benfield and Goldie Benfield McFarland. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Lois Foster, and her great-granddaughter, Hayli Parlier.

Patsy was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother who found her greatest joy in caring for her family. She was a kind and compassionate woman who always put the needs of others before her own. Her family meant everything to her, and she was happiest when she was surrounded by the people she loved.

In her free time, Patsy enjoyed reading, spending time on her tablet, watching westerns, and keeping up with her favorite soap operas. She had a special way of making those around her feel loved and cared for. Her family will especially remember her generous heart, her willingness to always help others, and the love she poured into each generation of her family. Patsy held a particularly special place in the hearts of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. To Charisma, she was lovingly known as “YaYay”.

Those left to cherish Patsy’s memory include her four daughters, Pattie Lee Costner; Janice Earlene Lee Mayfield; Terri Marie Holden Cameron (Richard); and Bonnie Louise Lee Bullins Jones (Josh); and her son, Johnnie Earl Lee. She is also survived by her sister, Edith Louise Gaul (Jim); grandchildren, Michelle Osborne, Daniel Allen Costner (Sarah Carter), Millard James Mayfield (Myrah), Starla Nichole Shaw (Nate), Janice Renae Mayfield, Matthew Mayfield (Angie), Wayne Ray Jones II, Brandie Louise Mooney (Lane), Michael Jones (Amanda), Trey Cameron, and Wesley Cameron; her great-grandchildren, Kaylee Jones, Cayden Jones, Carson Jones, Kendall Wills, Emerie Parton, Kaceton Jones, and Gracie Jones. Brandon Osborne, Coty Osborne, Charisma Costner, Bradley Parlier, Caleb Mayfield, Abby Frazier, JD Mayfield, Kelsey Barber, Jacob Mayfield, Little Matt Mayfield, and Rosemary Shaw; and her great-great-grandchildren, Cyrus Starnes, Sage Starnes, Athena Mayfield, and Cassius Mayfield.

Though Patsy will be deeply missed, her memory will live on through her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. The love she gave so freely to her family will remain a lasting part of their lives, and the lessons she taught through her kindness, compassion, and devotion will continue for generations to come.

At this time, no services will be held.
