Patsy Ann Smith Barlowe

Patsy Ann Smith Barlowe, 84, of Marion, passed away Friday, December 15, 2023 at UNC Health Blue Ridge.

A native of Marion, Patsy was born January 2, 1939 to the late Gurson Alvin Smith and Katie Mae Copeland Smith.

She was a faithful member of Nebo First Baptist Church where she loved worshipping for many years. Patsy was an avid reader, and she never met a stranger. In addition to raising six children of her own, she was a foster mother and a granny to many. She will be missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing her.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Amberse Barlowe, Sr.; one brother, Donald Roger Smith; two infant siblings; a great grandchild, Thurston Vettraino; and a son-in-law, Kevin Troutman.

She is survived by her children, Amberse Barlowe, Jr. (Debbie), Leslie Sparks (T.R.), James Barlowe (P.J.), Kathy Jimison (Myron), Kevin Barlowe (Susan), and Melissa Harris (Ron); sixteen grandchildren, Carrie Barlowe, Ryan Sparks, Shelby Alleyne, Aaron Barlowe, Patrick Parker, Aly Kelly, David Troutman, Bryan Troutman, Avery Barlowe Crouch, Katie Barlowe, Emma Barlowe, Sara Barlowe, Trent Johnson, Aidan Harris, Sean Harris, and Isaac Harris; and six great grandchildren, Micah Presnell, Lucas Troutman, Colby Kelly, Maverick Johnson, Leo Sparks, and Colt Johnson.

A memorial service will be held on Thursday, December 21, 2023 at 3:00 p.m. at Nebo First Baptist Church with Rev. Doug Worley officiating. The family will receive friends from 2:00 until 3:00 p.m. at the church.
