Patricia Jean Piercy

In the early morning hours of Friday, February 26, 2021, Mrs. Pat Marsh Piercy, of Old Fort, North Carolina, peacefully departed this life while at Wake Forest Baptist Hospital.

A native of McDowell County, she was born on September 01, 1951 to the late Burgess (Tub) Marsh and Margie Ford Marsh.

Pat worked for many years as a teacher assistant in the McDowell County School system, where she met many people and positively impacted the lives of countless students. She was a charter member of Grace Community Church where she served in various capacities, including Bible study leader, women’s ministry, and as a mentor and leader for many youth activities. Pat was very involved in her beloved community of Old Fort. She helped organize parades and oversaw annual Fourth of July Celebrations. She was also active in the Old Fort Heritage Foundation. She loved her family, her church family, and her community, but above all, she loved her Lord. She will be missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing her.

She is survived by her husband, Jack “Bunny” Piercy, Jr.; four children, Brian Piercy, Todd Piercy (Clay), Travis Piercy (Angela), and Josh Piercy (Jessy); five grandchildren, Zach Piercy (Olivia), Austin Piercy, Marcus Piercy, Jaden Piercy, and Cassandra Thomason; and six siblings, Tony Marsh, Billy Marsh (Connie), Mike Marsh (Tina), Donna Burleson, Rick Marsh (Toni), and Randy Marsh (Cindy).

A memorial service to celebrate Pat’s life will be held on Wednesday, March 03, 2021 at Grace Community Church at 2:00 p.m. Reverend Jerry Lewis will officiate. The service will be livestreamed on the church’s Facebook and YouTube sites.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be directed to the Grace Community Church Preschool Fund by visiting graceforall.org.

I just don't know where to start when I begin to talk about my sweet cousin Pat. She was everything that I want to be on this road called life. I am so very blessed to have grown up with you, and I always smile when I even think of your name. My life has been so blessed to have you in it for all our 69 years. You raised the absolute best young men ever, and Bunny adored you. I will carry you in my heart forever. Love and prayers to all.

Pat , you changed my life 20yrs ago when I moved here . Your Heart is as big as a person can see in front of them. You understood everyone 's need , helped so many without a complaint . Always there with a warm heart and so much love . You may have left us all but, you will always be alive in my heart ! Until we all meet again .

Pat's life is an inspiration for all of us. Though we knew her for only a short time, at those times when we were with her and other times when her son Todd told us stories about her we could feel the warm love she had for people. We will celebrate that love of hers as our relationship with Todd grows over the years to come and she will have a special place in our hearts forever. We will continue to pray for the Piercy family.
