Forever Loved, Never Forgotten

After a period of declining health, we say goodbye to Nancy Causby Shuford, who peacefully passed away on Wednesday, July 15, 2026.

Nancy, age 76, was born in McDowell County on December 23, 1949, to the late Addie Causby and Margaret Welburn Causby. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Bill Shuford; her daughter, Tracie Kolody; her siblings, Betty Moore, Mills Causby, and Freddie Causby; and her great-granddaughter, Aaryn Murray. The family finds comfort in knowing Nancy has been reunited with those who went before her.

Nancy's greatest joy in life was her family. She was a devoted mother to her beloved daughter, Tracie. Later, her grandchildren, Aaron and Kaytie, became the light of her life. Then came her precious great-grandson, Trace, who quickly became the center of her world. She loved talking about him, and he brought her endless joy and happiness.

Nancy also enjoyed going out to eat, shopping with her family, and spending time with those she loved. She shared a close bond with her siblings and treasured every moment they spent together.

Those left to cherish her memory include her siblings, Bill Causby (Nancy), Catherine Deaton, Roy Causby (Teresa), and Jodi Wright (Randy); her grandson, Aaron Murray; her granddaughter, Kaytie Murray; her great-grandson, Trace Murray; and numerous nieces and nephews who loved Nancy dearly and were blessed by the compassion and love she so freely shared.

The family will hold a private service at a later date.

In Nancy's honor, the family encourages friends to spend time with their loved ones, share a meal together, or lend a helping hand to someone in need.
