Michael “Mike” Danny Wilson, 70, of Marion, passed away Sunday, February 15, 2026 at his residence with his family by his side.
He was born in McDowell County on May 20, 1955 to the late Clifton Wilson and Wilma Fender Wilson.
Known as a wonderful provider and hard worker, Mike worked as a machinist at Auria for over forty years where he made lasting friendships with his colleagues. He was a faithful member of Colbert Creek Free Will Baptist Church in Yancey County where he served as a deacon for many years. Mike will be remembered as a very Godly man. Though he was a man of few words, he showed great wisdom when he spoke. Mike had many interests, most notably clockmaking and woodworking. Even after a stroke, he spent countless hours making items of exceptional quality that his family will cherish for years to come. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Randy Wilson; step-mother, Shirley Wilson; and a step-sister, Tracy Wilson Loftis.
He is survived by his wife, Virginia Hudgins Wilson; two sons, Danny Wilson (Lauren) and Travis Wilson (Teigan); six grandchildren, Cameron, Chase, Landon, Ashton, Lilly, and Marley; two great-grandchildren, Grayson and Nova; one brother, Darrell Wilson (Lauren); one sister, Lisa Johnson; one step-sister, Tammy Saylor; and many beloved brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, and nephews.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, February 19, 2026 from 12:00 noon until 2:00 p.m. at Beam Funeral Service. A funeral service will follow at 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home with Mr. William Sackett, Mr. Scott Cable, and Rev. Tony Lunsford officiating. Interment will be at Cherry Springs Memorial Park.
