Michael Ray Cook

     Michael Ray Cook, 60, of Morganton, passed away Tuesday, November 7, 2023, at Grace Hospital.

     Michael was born in McDowell County, NC on March 27, 1963, to Christine Arvena Henson and the late William Ray Cook. He was fond of the outdoors where he enjoyed hunting and fishing. Michael liked to tinker with things, especially working on cars and woodworking. He was also an excellent cook. He will be greatly missed.

     In addition to his father, Michael was preceded in death by a daughter, Brittney Nicole Cook; a brother, Randall Cook; a sister, Revonda Johnson; his step father, Emmett Buchanan; and a nephew, Randy Seay.

     Those left to cherish his memory include his mother, Christine Buchanan; a son, James Brandon Henderson Laughter (Hannah); a sister, Robin Baker (Stanley), a granddaughter on the way, Charleigh Renee Laughter; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

     A funeral will be conducted at 3:00 p.m., Saturday, November 11, 2023, at the Chapel of Beam Funeral Service. Rev. Ernie Cable will officiate and Rev. Paul Grindstaff will assist. Burial will follow at Murphy’s Chapel Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m., prior to the service, at the funeral home.
