Michael Guy Cheek

     Michael Guy Cheek, 69, of Nebo, NC, passed away August 14, 2025, at the home of his sister in Morganton, NC.

     He was born December 9, 1955, in Shelby, NC, to the late Ben Guy Cheek and Pauline Collins Cheek. Known to his friends as “Mike,” he was always “Mickey” to his family. A lifelong resident of McDowell County, he attended Marion City and McDowell County Schools and was employed in local furniture manufacturing companies. His passion in life was for old cars and trucks, particularly Chevys and more particularly Camaros. His favorite pastimes were working on his cars and attending drag races. He also loved getting together with his large immediate and extended family, especially if there was good food involved.

     In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sisters Mary Francis Cheek Franklin, Betty Sue Cheek Ledbetter, Shirley Eileen Cheek Landon, and Norma Jean Cheek Willis. He is survived by his son Christopher Michael Cheek, his sisters Nancy Joanne Cheek Burnette, Sandra Cheek Saaed and Terri Cheek Lane (Vincent), and many beloved nieces, nephews and cousins. We all loved him and will miss him.

     The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., Thursday, August 21, 2025, at Beam Funeral Service.
