Melody Layne (Coursey) Hill, 72, of Nebo, NC, passed away peacefully on June 28, 2026, surrounded by her family.

Born on August 24, 1953, in Middlebury, VT, Melody was the daughter of the late Kenneth and Millicent (Chandler) Coursey. She was a devoted wife, mother, mimi, sister, and friend.

She married the love of her life, Jeffrey Clark Hill, in 1979, and together they built a family filled with love, resilience and strength. Melody was known for her boisterous personality and sense of humor. She cared deeply for those closest to her, always putting them before herself, and was a steadfast constant in the lives of her children and husband. She loved going on cruises, motorcycle rides, crafting, baking for family and her beloved dogs. Her grandchildren were the light of her life, and she loved to spoil them. Melody was a true matriarch and her absence will be profoundly felt.

Melody is survived by her husband, Jeffrey; her children Jeffrey “Glenn” (Hannah) Hill and Kendall (Steve) Manning; her grandchildren, Tristan, Elliotte and Eliza, and her sisters; Barbara Gevry, Teena Schaffer, Dawn Odell, and Lauren Mohan. She was predeceased by her parents and brothers; Michael Laflam and Kenneth “Corky” Coursey.

A celebration of life will be held August 15, 2026 from 1 to 4 pm, at the Middlebury VFW, 530 Exchange St. Middlebury, VT 05753.

An internment service will be held at the Massachusetts Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Agawam, MA at a date when the cemetery can accommodate the internment.
