Melissa Ellen Clark

Melissa Ellen Pitman Clark, age 60, of Newland, Avery County, passed away on Friday, April 10, 2026, at her residence.

Born on February 7, 1966, in Avery County, North Carolina, she was the daughter of the late Donald Pitman and Earline Greene Pitman. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Penny Buchanan.

Melissa had a passion for crocheting and, in her younger years, enjoyed horseback riding. She was a devoted mother and grandmother who deeply loved and cherished her family.

Those left to honor and cherish her memory include her three children, Jeremy Thompson (Leah), Danielle Yelton, and Anthony Bullock; her sister, Donna Phillips (Randy); and her six grandchildren, Emma Thompson, Evan Thompson, Lauren Yelton, Ricky Yelton, Dustin Bullock, and Aleah Bullock.

A funeral service will be held on Monday, April 13, 2026, at 4:00 p.m. at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 3:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. at the church. Interment will follow at Carpenter Cemetery.
