Maxine Logan Kincaid

March 19, 1939 — May 23, 2024

Marion

Maxine Logan Kincaid, 85, of Marion, peacefully departed this life on Thursday, May 23, 2024 at Autumn Care of Marion.

She was born in Old Fort on March 19, 1939 to the late James Arthur Logan and Sally Greenlee Logan.

Maxine was a faithful child of God. She was raised in Pharr Chapel AME Zion Church and has been a faithful member of Mt. Zion AME Zion Church for many years where she was an integral part of the Ministry of Kindness and faithfully sang in the church choir every Sunday. Maxine had a wonderful voice and used her talents to the glory of God. She was part of The Gospelettes and traveled all over the southeast singing with the group. They were a staple on WBRM every Sunday morning.

Maxine retired from Baxter Travenol Laboratories where she was a kiefel operator. She was a star basketball player in high school where she met her late husband, Bobby Joe Kincaid. He, too, was a talented player, and together they started a legacy of athletes in the Kincaid family. Maxine enjoyed thrift shopping and crafting, and she was a true fashionista. Her sense of style was unmatched. She will also be remembered for her ability to make others laugh.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her sons, Terrance Arthur Kincaid Sr. and Forrest Alonzo Kincaid; grandson, Terrance “Buggy” Kincaid Jr.; and her sister, Barbara Ann Logan.

She is survived by three daughters, Barbara Joe Kincaid, Felisa Kincaid Witherspoon, and Kim Kincaid Brown (Travis); seven grandchildren, Turner Kincaid, Malcolm Kincaid (Celeste), Destiny Kincaid, Brooke Fowler, Travis Brown Jr., Cameron Witherspoon, and Terrain Kincaid; a host of great grandchildren including a special great grandchild, Ja’Carri Crisp, affectionately known as “BaeBae;” and a host of nieces and nephews.

A celebration of Maxine’s life will be held on Friday, May 31, at 2:00 p.m. at Mt. Zion AME Zion Church with Rev. Mary Scott officiating. Interment will follow at McDowell Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 p.m.
