Mary E. Tilson

Mary E. Tilson, age 84, of Nebo, North Carolina, departed to be with the Lord on the night of Thursday, December 24, 2020.  A native of McDowell County, North Carolina, born on July 28, 1936, she was the daughter of the late Will and Othel Waters Raines.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, David F. Tilson, who passed away November 8th, 2006; and two sisters, Pauline Mathis and Christine Ledbetter.

A loving and caring mother, grandmother, sister and friend, Mary enjoyed reading and at times could read a book a day.  She was a member of Glenwood Baptist Church.

Left to cherish her precious memories are three daughters, Sharon Tilson Warren and husband, Bill, Rebecca Vogt and Ruthe Guffey and husband, John; one sister, Evelyn Chrisawn; six grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild. 

A graveside memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 22, 2021 at Glenwood Cemetery at 2:00 p.m., where she was laid to rest next to her beloved husband, David.
