Mary Briggs Nunnally

In the early morning hours of Tuesday, June 08, 2021, Mrs. Mary Briggs Nunnally, of Marion, North Carolina, departed this life at her residence.

She was born in Yancey County on September 15, 1944 to the late David and Viola Styles Briggs.

Mary was a very talented seamstress who enjoyed designing clothing. She was a faithful employee of American Thread, where she retired after over 30 years. Mary enjoyed cooking and canning, and she will be remembered for her desserts which were the best. Known as a very smart woman, she loved her family, especially her boys, and they loved her back.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Donald “Butch” Nunnally; and her sister, Annie Mae Allison (Carl Allison).

Those left to cherish her precious memories are her two sons, Jeff Nunnally (Tonia) and Shaun Nunnally; one granddaughter, Jada Nix; two brothers, Matthew Briggs (Clara) and Charles Briggs (Barbara); four nieces, Crystal Allison and her son, Kellen Lindsay, Cheryl Allison and sons, Michael, Dylan and Darren Jones, Amy Briggs Band (Phillip Band) and her son, Ian Gilliam, LeighAnne Briggs Ayers (Jeff Ayers) and a special family member, Annie Duncan.

A funeral service will be held on Thursday, June 10, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel of Beam Funeral Service with Pastor Fred Proctor officiating. Interment will follow at McDowell Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 10:30 until 11:00 a.m., 30 minutes prior to the service.
