Mary Jacquelyn "Jackie" Hughes Finley

Mary Jacquelyn “Jackie” Hughes Finley, 86, of Nebo, passed away Saturday, November 11, 2023 at Mountain Ridge.

She was born in South Carolina on February 1, 1937 to the late Ardle Ernest Hughes and Mary Gilliland Hughes. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Sewell Finley; two sisters, Margie Dalton and Patsy Hollifield; and a stepsister, Irene Gabe.

Jackie loved the Lord and was a lifelong member of First Free Will Baptist Church. Over the years, she sang in the choir, served in the Ladies Auxiliary, and was heavily involved with the Rainbowland Daycare. She was a gifted seamstress using alterations outside of her home as a ministry to others, while also passing along this skill to her granddaughter Kelly. She was an extremely talented gardener who shared that love with her granddaughter Draia. Jackie was devoted to her family and enjoyed caring for all her loved ones.

She is survived by two children, Dennis Finley (Elaine) and Linda McKinney; and two grandchildren, Kelly Orne (Chad) and Draia Garavito (Eder); stepsister, Charlene Holshouser; and stepbrother, Joe Gabe.

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, November 15, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. at First Free Will Baptist Church. Burial will follow at Wilson Ballew Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 p.m.

The family would like to thank the staff and activities team at Mountain Ridge Health and Rehab for loving Jackie, making her feel special and treating her like a queen.
