Mary Frances Hooker Sutphin

Mary “Frances” Sutphin went to be with the Lord Wednesday, August 3, 2022 at the home of her daughter Sandy Dunn in Charlotte N.C.

Frances was born to the late Burnie and Carrie Jessup Hooker on October 7, 1936. Frances lived and worked most of her life in Old Fort from about 1959 until 2015. She was very loved by her family and will be greatly missed. 

In addition to her parents Frances is preceded in death by her husband Robert Sutphin Sr.; two infant children, Robert Jr. and Cathy Sutphin; two infant brothers, Bobby and Thomas Hooker.

Frances is survived by two daughters, Sandy Dunn and husband Norman, Barbara Wilson and husband Robert; four granddaughters, Laurie Vess and husband Ben, Crystal Bartlett and husband Cody, Samantha Thompson and husband Mike and Sarah Dunn; five great granddaughters, Jordan Rowe and husband Brent, Jenna McMahan and husband Ethan, Samantha Vess, Keira Walker and Harper Bartlett; four great grandsons, Jarod Jones, Brayden Vess, Jaiden Dipietro and Maddox Bartlett; one great-great grandson, Carter McMahan: two great great-granddaughters, Ella and Mallory Rowe; two sisters, Bonnie Lackey and Kaye Fletcher; one brother Carlos “Bud” Hooker and wife Marie; several nieces and nephews along with some extended family, April and Mike Ouellette and their daughter and son Katlyn and Jacob along with Donald Lackey, Brian Jones, and Hughie Thomas.

A funeral service will be held on Monday, August 8, 2022 at 1:00 pm in the chapel of Beam Funeral Service with the Rev. Donnie Massingill and Mr. Brent Rowe officiating.  The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 12:00 pm until 1:00 pm at the funeral home. Interment will take place at McDowell Memorial Park following the service.
