Mary Ann Suttles Gardin

Mary Ann Suttles Gardin, 84, of Marion, North Carolina, passed away Saturday, January 14, 2023 at College Pines Health and Rehabilitation.

A native of Marion, Mary Ann was born June 1, 1938 to the late James and Sally Wilson Suttles.

Mary Ann loved her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She enjoyed taking trips with her husband to Daytona Beach and Pigeon Forge each year and taking pictures. They looked forward to these trips so much that they never went anywhere else. Though she finished her career in healthcare as a CNA, Mary Ann’s true passion was in taking care of her home. She liked canning, gardening, and working with her flowers.

Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Jay Gardin; sister, Fairah Hollifield; nephew, Timothy Hollifield; mother-in-law, Vernie Gardin; father-in-law, Arthur Gardin; and sisters-in-law, Lucille Gardin and Patsy Suttles.

She is survived by her daughter, Cathy Cornett; two granddaughters, Summer Calloway (Kelly) and Jordan McMahan (Justin); three great grandchildren, Kallie Arnold (Dylan), Cora Calloway, Vera Calloway, and one on the way, Rylan McMahan; brother, Jay “J.E.” Suttles; and brothers-in-law, Tommy Hollifield and Jerry Gardin (Debbie).

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, January 17, 2023 from 6:00 until 7:00 p.m. at Beam Funeral Service.

A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, January 18, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at McDowell Memorial Park with Pastor Larry Anderson officiating.
