Mark Allen Cunningham

Mark Allen Cunningham, born on April 12, 1961, in McDowell County, left this world on August 22, 2025, at Memorial Mission Hospital. He was 64 years old. Mark was known for his remarkable skills as a mechanic; he excelled in working on cars and motorcycles, making a significant impact in his community through his work.

Beyond his profession, Mark had an inherent passion for life that reflected in his dedication to helping others in need. His generosity and willingness to lend a hand were hallmarks of his personality. He enjoyed cooking out, sharing meals with family and friends, and relished every opportunity to create lasting memories. Mark was also a devoted dog lover, finding joy and companionship in the presence of his beloved pets.

Mark is survived by his loving mother, Shirley McCormick Cunningham; his son, Mark B. Cunningham; his stepson, Daniel Padgett; his brothers, Mickey Cunningham, Scott Cunningham, and Bobby Cunningham; and close friend, Monica Rector. He also leaves behind his cherished family members, Dakota Rector, Tori Rector, and Ashlyn Robinson, as well as dear friends Terry Bailey and Joe Gorecki.

Mark was preceded in death by his infant twin sister and father, Robert Evan Cunningham Sr.

The visitation will take place on August 28, 2025, from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM, followed by a memorial service at 3:00 PM with Reverends Harold Webb and Matt McDaniel, both at the Beam Celebration Center, located at 2160 Rutherford Rd, Marion, NC, 28752.

Mark's enduring spirit and the love he shared will continue to resonate in the hearts of all those who had the privilege of knowing him.
