Margie Ruth Jamison "Lewis" Shirlen

 

On the evening of Thursday, July 21, 2022, Margie Ruth Jamison “Lewis” Shirlen passed away at Mountain Ridge Wellness Center. A native of McDowell County, Margie was born on December 6, 1933 to the late Robert and Bessie White Jamison.

 

She is preceded in death by her first husband, George R. Lewis; grandson, Dawson Lewis; sister, Frances Craig; her brothers, Archie, James, Gordon and Howard Jamison and one step-son, Louis Shirlen.

 

Margie was a charter member of Lackeytown Baptist Church. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother and will be missed by all who knew her. Margie loved her church family. She enjoyed dancing and used to sing in many trios.

 

She is survived by her husband, Cecil Shirlen; six children, Deborah Lewis (Norbert Lewald), Nancy Lewis, Barbara Barnett (Jack), Terry Lewis (Becky), Dawn Haney (Mark), Charles Lee Lewis (Christy); step-sons, Darrel Shirlen, Vaughn Shirlen (Linda) and Charles Shirlen (Sharon) and one brother, Bobby Jamison (Martha). Also surviving Margie are fourteen grandchildren, Joseph Pitts (Chelsea), Billy Pitts (April), Shane Wright (Shanna), Kellie Martin (Dama), Tori Lewis (Candace), Daniel Elliott (Kori), Jennifer Jones (Jared), Jacob Lewis (Taylor), Jessica Frisbee (Jeffrey), Sarah Haney, Casey Haney, Samantha Bonner (Donald), Brenton Lewis and Tanner Lewis; twenty-one great-grandchildren and one great-great grandson and a special nephew, Billy Craig.

 

A funeral service will be held on Sunday, July 24, 2022 at 3:00 p.m. at Beam Funeral Service with Reverends Jeff Parker and Keith Jamison officiating. The family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m., one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Interment will follow the service at Bethlehem Cemetery.

 

The family wishes to thank the staff of Mountain Ridge Wellness Center for their compassionate care they have shown.

Words alone cannot explain the sadness in my heart for the loss of my last Aunt!
She was a special lady that Loved everyone and took care of many Loved one's in her life.
Heaven is brighter now as she join's so many that have gone on before her.
