Margaret Mayo Grubbs Fisher

Margaret Mayo Grubbs Fisher, 90, of Newland, passed away Thursday, July 20, 2023 at Blue Ridge Regional Hospital.

She was born in Florida on November 20, 1932 to the late Jack Grubbs and Florence Gregory Grubbs. Margaret worked as a stewardess for National Airline and as a model for Mercedes-Benz. She was known for her ever-present elegance and fierceness as well as her loving and free spirit. She was an avid adventurer who also enjoyed singing, dancing, and working with flowers. Her devotion to her family and friends was unparalleled. She was married to the late Henry Fisher who was undoubtedly the love of her life.

She is survived by two daughters, Heidi Fisher and Kathy Shields; grandchildren, Grant Shields and Savannah Shields; and her brother, William “Bill” Grubbs.
