Lucy Mae Hollifield

Lucy Mae Bates Hollifield, age 76, of Marion, NC passed away Monday, December 18, 2017 at her home.

Mrs. Hollifield was born October 26, 1941 in McDowell County, NC to the late John Walter Bates and Dovie Jane Ollis Bates.  She retired as a Supervisor at Lake James Lodge.  She enjoyed gardening and sitting on her porch watching the birds and squirrels.  Her favorite time of year was Christmas, she loved spending time with her family.  She loved everyone she met and especially loved her family.

In addition to her parents, she is also preceded in death by her husband, Norman Ray Hollifield, October 14, 2017; one son, Michael Hollifield; and her granddaughter, Amanda Hollifield, November 7, 2017.

Left behind to cherish her memories are five children, Wayne Hollifield (Renee), Donna Morgan, Allen Hollifield (Amy), Dawn Brown (Jimmie) and Waylon Hollifield; ten grandchildren, Brittany Cotton (Christian), Breanna Brown, Jessica Harmon (Ben), Callie Hollifield, Shannon Mancuso (Kelly), Shaun Morgan, Jodi Morgan, Cody Morgan (Amanda), Sara Hollifield and Huner Hollifield; seven great-grandchildren, Maxton and Mason Cotton, Zade and Adyn Bizer, Heather Moody, Kole Mancuso and Levi Morgan; one brother, Frank Bates (Rosa); and special friends, Angel Branton and Jennie Hardy.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM on Thursday, December 21, 2017 at Beam Funeral Service & Crematory.  A Funeral Service will follow at 7:00 PM at the funeral home with Mr. Joseph Bailey officiating.
