Shortly before midnight on Friday, April 16, 2021, Lonnie Foster, Jr., age 89, of Marion, North Carolina, departed to be with the Lord at Memorial Campus of Mission Hospital in Asheville, North Carolina. Born in McDowell County, North Carolina on August 29, 1931, he was the son of the late Lonnie Foster, Sr. and Lona Belle McDaniel Foster.


A Godly man who loved the Lord, Lonnie enjoyed fishing and attending church as often as he could.  Lonnie, however, truly loved spending time with his amazing family.  Not only was he a member Victory Temple Full Gospel Church in Nebo, but had served in the United States Army. 


Left to cherish his precious memories are his loving wife of 23 years, Betty Jean Buchanan Taylor Snyder Foster; two daughters, Gail Harris (Tommy) and Elisa Huffstetler; one son, Perry Foster (Linda); five grandchildren, Brian Harris, Heather Morrow, Travis Huffstetler, Brandon Huffstetler and Derek Foster; and six great grandchildren, Ravin Morrow, Faith Harris, Kylynn Harris, Peyton Huffstetler, Lana Huffstetler and Lucas Huffstetler.  Lonnie is also survived by three stepchildren, Hank Taylor, Carol Worley and Van Taylor; and a number of step grandchildren and step great grandchildren.  


A funeral service will be held on Monday, April 19, 2021 at 3:00 p.m. at Victory Temple Full Gospel Church in Nebo with Pastor Pete McCombs, Pastor Walker Toney and Pastor James Chambers officiating.  Interment will follow in the church cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 1:30 p.m. until 3:00 p.m., prior to the service, at the church.

Daddy you were the first man I ever loved !!! You were a wonderful dad to us. Thank you for loving me the way you did and always providing for us. I miss you so much ,tears are streaming ,I can't hardly see and gosh I miss you bad already ! I have your voice to listen to and so many memories!! I know you are a little busy in Heaven ,abd thank you for hanging with us so we could tell you again that we loved you ! That last breath was so calming for you because Jesus already had you by the hand all that day just waiting for that time ! Thank you dad for loving me !!! You were the BEST!

Daddy you are the first man that I ever loved . You always loved me ,and I'm so thankful that I had a daddys love forever !! You were a great loving father and a friend to many . You were always my protector and made sure I was safe and had every thing I needed and most of what I wanted ,which I didn't deserve most times ! We will miss you terribly. As I sit here ,with tears streaming ...just because I wish you were here and then I'm glad you're not suffering any more, you sure had your share ! Thank you for hanging with us so we could tell you once more how much we loved you ! I know you're busy in Heaven and having the time of your life ,since this time of your life is over !! I will always love you my precious daddy!!!!!

My Uncle Lonnie was like a second daddy to me and I loved him very much. He was always such a happy man! I know he is having a good time in Heaven!
All my love to his wife and daughters Gail and Leisa and his son Perry his loved ones and grandchildren. You are in my prayers!
