Lloyd Raymond Vess

Mr. Lloyd Raymond Vess, age 81, formally of Old Fort, North Carolina, departed to be with the Lord on the evening of Sunday, February 14, 2021 at Memorial Campus of Mission Hospital in Asheville, North Carolina.  The son of the late Eskimo and Estelle Patterson Vess, he was born in Old Fort, North Carolina on July 30, 1939.  Lloyd was also preceded in death by several siblings.

A member and deacon of New Hope Missionary Baptist Church in Old Fort, Lloyd had proudly served his community as a volunteer with the Crooked Creek Township Volunteer Fire Department for many years.  An avid coon hunter, he loved to plow gardens for his family and friends; and enjoyed holding a conversation.  Lloyd, having been the youngest of his siblings, has gone to join, not only his parents, but his brother and sisters. 

Left to cherish his precious memories, are two daughters, Rosa Downs and her husband, James and Andra Phillips and her husband, Kenneth; four grandchildren, Devin Reece, Britney Shepard, Dillion Reece and Danny Ray Brackett, Jr.; two great grandchildren, Azlynn Shepard and Mavrick Shepard; and numerous nieces and nephews. 

A celebration of Lloyd’s life will be held on Friday, February 19, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Beam Funeral Service with Pastor Aaron Vess officiating.  The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m., prior to the service, at the funeral home.
