Linda Judy Thompson

Linda Judy Thompson, age 71, of Nebo, North Carolina, passed away at her residence with loved ones at her side on Tuesday, April 20, 2021.  The daughter of the late James Johnson and Bessie Vaughn O’Quinn, she was born in McDowell County, North Carolina on May 15, 1949.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one sister, Brenda Reel.

Linda was always kind and loving, and in fact she never met a stranger.  Prior to her health declining, she enjoyed shopping and loved to dance. 

Left to cherish her precious memories, her loving and devoted husband of 56 years, Vance Thompson, Jr.; two daughters, Sherry Thompson and Vicki Bates (Tony); one son, Richard Thompson (Cherie Marcy); six grandchildren, Danielle, Cherish, Brandon, Kayla, Dason and Scarlett; eight great grandchildren with one on the way; one brother, Mike Johnson (Roxie); and a number of nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held on Thursday, April 22, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Beam Funeral Service in Marion.  Interment will follow at McDowell Memorial Park.  The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m., prior to the service, at the funeral home.
