Linda Sue Sisk Freeborn

Linda Sue Sisk Freeborn, 60, of Morganton, passed peacefully at her home on Sunday, June 15, 2025 surrounded by her loving family.

She was born in McDowell County on September 29, 1964 to the late Alvin Lee Sisk and Myrtle Sue Pyatt Sisk Bradley.

Linda had a career in textiles and later worked in convenience stores. Her family, however, was more important to her than anything else. She enjoyed spending time with them and loving on any babies or children that entered her home. Linda took great pride in her children and grandchildren. She was a crafty person who liked a good home improvement project to work on with her husband. She found great peace in the beauty of nature, especially at the beach, and she loved listening to music. Her special canine companions, Sable and Phoebe, held a very special place in her heart.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Alvin Lee Sisk, Jr.; paternal grandparents, Elbert Lee Sisk and Bessie Mae Patton Sisk; and maternal grandparents, Raymond Roy Pyatt and Ruby Launa Russell Pyatt.

Those left to cherish her memory include her husband, Lester Andrew Freeborn; two daughters, Kimberly Crowder (Bobby) and Legends Aurora Freeborn; grandson, Jason Crowder; and two sisters, Tina Louise Messer (William) and Rebecca Newton Rector (Charles).

In accordance with Linda’s wishes, the family will hold a private celebration of her life at a later date.
