Lillie Wilson

On the evening of Saturday, June 26, 2021, Lillie Jean Austin Wilson, 87, of Marion, North Carolina passed away at her residence surrounded by her family. She was born in Yancey County on May 20, 1934 to the late Mack Austin and Ellen McPeters Austin. She is also preceded in death by 15 siblings. Lillie was a hard worker who would always help anyone in need. She loved planting and working in her garden. Known to have a great sense of humor, she also loved a good yard sale. The matriarch of the family, she enjoyed taking care of them and others. She was a wonderful cook and enjoyed baking as well. If you went to her house, you knew you would be eating. An awesome mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, Lillie loved her family immensely. Those left to cherish her precious memories are her children, Juanita Guffie (Lonnie) and Randy Wilson; five grandchildren, Athena Fleming (Paul), Christy Wilson, Billy Surrett (Heather), Charity Meadows (Jesse), and Chad Reece (Shelby); nine great grandchildren, Brandon Fleming, Magan Shelton, Dalton Shelton (Taylor), Makayla Surrett Guffie, Phoenix Kuykendall, Josiah Kuykendall, Devon Edwards, Pierson Reece, and Liam Reece; five great-great grandchildren, Savon, Avion, Luke, Nadia, and Addie; and three sisters, Lois Wisenbarger, Lib Manning, and Gelene Sharp. In accordance with her wishes, no services will be held.
