Libby Tate

Libby Tate, a loving mother, sister, and grandmother, passed away peacefully on October 9, 2025, at Mission Hospital McDowell. Born on September 29, 1960, in Burke County, North Carolina, Libby touched the lives of many during her time on earth.

Libby recently retired from her position at the McDowell County Tag office, where she was known for her dedication and friendly demeanor. She was a loyal member of the Marion Moose Lodge, where she actively volunteered for various benefits, showcasing her commitment to community service and support for those in need.

Her warm personality and loving nature will be cherished by her family and friends. Libby had an immense love for her daughter, Heather Tate (Jeremy Whitmire), and derived joy from being a grandmother to Breianna Wallace, Brady Wallace, Bryson Wallace, and Liam Whitmire. Her siblings, Scott Edward Wise and his wife Penny, Suzan Wise, and Shannon Wise (Darin Myers), will remember her fondly, as will her nephews: Oakley Sparks, Nicholas Cordell, Jackson Mills, and Malcolm Wise. 

Preceding Libby in death are her beloved parents, Edward Wise and Barbara Biggerstaff Wise, who will welcome her with open arms.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, October 19, 2025 from 2:00 pm until 4:00 pm. at Beam Funeral Service.  A Celebration of Life will be held immediately following at the Marion Moose Lodge with live music and a food reception. 

Libby Tate will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her, leaving behind a legacy of kindness and compassion that will resonate in the hearts of many.
