Leroy Reel

Leroy Reel, 84, of the Dysartsville Community, passed away Monday, February 16, 2026 at his residence with his loving family by his side.

A native of McDowell County, he was born March 17, 1941 to the late Luther Reel and Elizabeth Morgan Reel.

Leroy was wholly dedicated to his church, Dysartsville Baptist Church, from the time he gave his life to the Lord. He enjoyed working with his hands to improve the church building and the grounds, and he took great pride in his work. A man of many interests, he was a true outdoorsman. Leroy loved spending time fishing whether on the coast or on the Toe River. He was an avid deer hunter as well. As long as his health allowed, he tended to a large garden. Leroy loved his family deeply and will be greatly missed.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Gail Reel Hollifield; and four siblings, Roland Reel, Clara Styles, Ellen Hollifield, and Rosetta Buchanan.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 39 years, Janis McKinney Reel; two sons, Scotty Watson and Nathainiel Joseph Wall; one brother; special family members, Tammy Wall (Lester Reese) and John Manis (Arlene); and a number of nieces and nephews.

In accordance with his wishes, no services are planned.
