Larry Garland

Larry Garland, age 65, born on March 23, 1960, in Johnson City, Tennessee, passed away on June 18, 2025. He was a devoted husband, dad, pap, and a cherished member of the Buladean community. Known for his unwavering commitment to his family and faith, Larry was admired as a pillar within his community.

For 32 years, he owned and operated the Buladean Shell known for their humongous sandwiches, a beloved local business. In addition to this, he was employed at the Mitchell County Recycling Center, where he continued to contribute to his community's well-being. Larry's greatest love was his Lord, and he was an active member of the Beans Creek Church of Jesus Christ for 54 years. Over the years, he served faithfully as a Deacon, treasurer, and teacher, impacting countless lives along the way.

Larry had a zest for life that was reflected in his many hobbies and interests. He loved the outdoors and took great pleasure in traveling. A passionate enthusiast of sports, he was particularly known for being an avid Dallas Cowboys fan.

He is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Loretta Greene Garland; daughter Ginger Garland Franklin and her husband Daniel; son Dakota Garland; sister Judy Gardner; special brother Hank Greene; and his cherished grandchildren, Seth Franklin and Rylee Franklin. Also survived by a number of nieces and nephews.

Larry was preceded in death by his dad, Clyde Garland; mother, Shirley Gardner Garland; brother, Scott Garland; and son, Justin Bradley Garland.

The visitation will be held on June 22, 2025, from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM, followed by a funeral service starting at 4:00 PM at Beans Creek Church of the Lord Jesus Christ, located at 2123 Beans Creek Rd, Bakersville, NC 28705. Reverends GB Garland and David Byrd will officiate. Burial will follow the service in the Garland Whitson Cemetery.

Larry Garland will be remembered for his loving spirit, remarkable contributions, and the legacies he leaves behind. His dedication to his church, family and community will resonate in the hearts of those who knew him.
