Larry Michael Foster, 82, of Marion, North Carolina, passed away peacefully in the early morning hours of Friday, June 12, 2026, at Mission Hospital in Asheville.
Born on October 1, 1943, in Concord, North Carolina, Larry was the son of the late John and Ruby Hatley Foster. He lived a life marked by hard work, devotion to family, and an appreciation for the simple joys that made life meaningful.
For many years, Larry made his living as a truck driver, a profession he truly loved. He worked for Overnite and Monfort before becoming self-employed, spending countless miles on the open road doing what brought him both purpose and satisfaction. Those who knew Larry knew that he was happiest when he was behind the wheel, sharing stories, or enjoying time with the people he loved.
Larry had a deep appreciation for life’s pleasures. He rarely missed a good Western and looked forward to weekends spent cheering on his favorite NASCAR drivers. Whether he was playing a round of golf, relaxing on the water, or simply spending time with family and friends, Larry embraced every opportunity to enjoy life. He had a quiet strength, a dependable nature, and a warm presence that made others feel welcome.
More than anything, Larry cherished his family. He took pride in watching his family grow through the years and treasured every gathering, conversation, and milestone shared together. His legacy lives on not only in the memories he created but also in the values of hard work, loyalty, and love that he passed on to those around him.
In addition to his parents, Larry was preceded in death by his brothers, Andy Foster and Johnny Foster, and by his son, Don Lambert, Jr.
Left to cherish his memory are his beloved wife of 57 years, Joyce Foster; his children, April Sanz (Terry), Cindy Baughman (Timmy), Kim Waits (Tim), Robbin Taylor, and Greg Lambert (Joyce); his sister, Dianne Overcash (Ronnie); eleven grandchildren; and thirteen great-grandchildren. He also leaves behind many extended family members and friends who will miss his steady presence, kind heart, and familiar smile.
Though Larry’s journey has come to an end, the stories he shared, the laughter he inspired, and the love he gave so freely will remain in the hearts of those who knew him for years to come.
A gathering of family and friends will be held on Saturday, June 27, 2026, from 1:30 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. at Beam Funeral Service.
