Kevin Lane Knowlton

Kevin Lane Knowlton, 67, of Marion, passed away Tuesday, July 29, 2025 at the Charles George VA Medical Center in Asheville.

He was born in McDowell County on August 9, 1957 to the late Frederick Charles Knowlton and Joyce Lewis Knowlton. He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Eddie Knowlton and Danny Knowlton.

Kevin was a proud veteran of the United States Navy, serving from 1980 until he was injured in 1984. He obtained a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from Gardner-Webb University. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing when he was able. Kevin was also a firearms enthusiast, an avid reader, and a fan of Westerns. A loving husband, father, brother, grandfather, and great-grandfather, Kevin adored his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Martha Knowlton; three children, Reba Walker (David), Devin Parker, and Kristen Hunter (Chris); five grandchildren, Garrett Knowlton, Ayden Marshburn, Luke Hall (Jessica), David Greene, and Justin Hall; six great-grandchildren, Adaline Greene, Conner Hall, Jax Hall, Ezekiel Hall, Isaiah Hall, and Carter Hall; and his baby sister, Cyndi Patneaude (Mark).

The family will receive friends on Friday, August 1, 2025 from 2:00 until 3:00 p.m. at Beam Funeral Service. The memorial service will begin at 3:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

Interment will be private at the Western Carolina State Veterans Cemetery.
