Keith Edward Hall

Keith Edward Hall, age 55, of Old Fort, North Carolina, went home to be with the Lord in the early morning hours of Thursday, September 10, 2020 at the New Hanover Medical Center in Wilmington.

A native of McDowell County, he was born on April 05, 1965 to the late Edward Lee Hall and Mary Ann Grant Hall. He retired after 30 years of service as a corrections officer.

Known as a jokester, Keith loved his family and friends and would do anything for anybody. He loved his Lord, and served as a Sunday School teacher at Brookside Baptist Church. Always willing to try new things, he was a hard worker who never quit. He was very involved in his community, including promoting many town events of Old Fort. He served as a local law enforcement officer for the town and was a member of the Ruritan Club for 30 plus years.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by an aunt, Nina Ledford; and an uncle, Coy Lee Hall.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 33 years, Melissa McKinney Hall; two children, Michael Derrick Bessent and Anissa Dawn Hall; his mother and father-in-law, Larry and Kathy McKinney; a special granddaughter he thought of as his own, Taelyn Dallas Ogle; and a niece, Elizabeth Pearl McKinney; and many other members of family and friends.

A celebration of life will be held on Monday, September 14, 2020 in the chapel of Beam Funeral Service at 3:00 p.m. with the Reverends Steve Bugenhagen and Charles Duyck officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service, from 2:00 until 3:00 p.m. Interment will follow at Bethlehem Community Cemetery with Reverend Bobby Hughes officiating.

Memorial donations may be made in Keith’s honor to the National Kidney Foundation by visiting www.kidney.org or the National Ruritan Club by visiting www.ruritan.org and note that the donations are for the Old Fort Club.

Im so very sorry to hear of Keiths passing. I will pray for peace for his wonderful wife Melissa, their family to all the many people mourning the loss of a really great man. When I unexpectedly found out I was pregnant I immediately started meeting with people to find that perfect care giver for my child. A single to-be parent and working at the NC Highway Patrol where we rotated 3 shifts, I felt I would never find what I was looking for...until I met Melissa and Keith! What a Godsend these amazing people were! My son was 6 weeks old when I dropped him off on my first day back to work and from that very day for 2 years they kept my son safe. I remember coming to pick up my son after work and 9 times out of 10 my son would be on Keiths lap. It was so sweet. One day I came inside and Keith was in his recliner with my son in his lap and as Keith was helping Melissa fix dinner by peeling onions and when I went to pick up my son from Keiths lap he smelled like a giant onion and Keith said he was so sorry but somehow my son got hold of the peeled onion and was trying to eat it like an apple!!! We all laughed so hard. With rotating shifts weekly, Keith and Melissa brought my son into their world. From taking him to church with them, grocery shopping to cookouts with their families. No doubt Keith and Melissa were already both angels on this earth and Keith carried his wings all the way to the pearly gates. How do you ever find words to show tribute and honor to a loss and family left behind? Nothing seems fitting enough. Sharing memories and giving thanks for their lives and how they impacted others is a good start. To Melissa, you and Keith never left my heart and I have spoken so many times about how lucky I was when you guys came into my life. I know your heart is broken and theres a journey ahead. God will walk it with you. You and the families are in my prayers. Peace and healing your hearts is my first prayer.

Dear Melissa - I am so sorry for your loss. You are such an amazing person. I know when you would still come to work when you were so tired and weary and still keep a smile on your face. I wish I had the words to take the pain away but I know that is impossible. Please take care of yourself. Whenever you come back to work, I would like for us to get together and talk. Praying for the peace that only God can give. Love You Melissa.

Keith I will miss you! So sorry for your loss! To all his family and friends. To his friend Billy! Thank you for your wonderful work you did for us!

Romans 6:4. We were buried therefore with him by baptism into death, so that as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, we too might walk in newness of life.

We are praying for you Billy and Mecca Stewart
