Kathleen "Katie" Elizabeth Noyes Jernigan

April 18, 1986 — January 29, 2022

Winston-Salem, North Carolina

On Saturday, January 29, 2022, beloved wife, mother, daughter, sister and friend, Kathleen Elizabeth Noyes Jernigan passed away at her residence. She was born in Mecklenburg County on April 18, 1986 to Robert Noyes, III and Wanda Shuford Noyes.

Katie was a lover of life and always brought joy to those she met. She was strong in her faith and had a heart for others. Katie’s love for the Lord and caring nature were crafted at an early age with the grace and guidance of her mother and father. Before taking on her greatest calling as a mother, Katie devoted herself to volunteering, and giving back to women, striving to meet their emotional, spiritual, and physical needs. Her greatest joy came from being a mom to three wonderful children.  She always made the little things special and the big things extraordinary in everything they did. Not only was she full of love, but also full of laughter. Katie was always the first to find humor in any situation and make everyone around her smile.  She was genuine and compassionate with her words and provided encouragement to all those lucky enough to be able to confide in her. Katie and her beloved husband, Carson, took great pride and joy in their family, always making sure that everyone was up to date on the latest and greatest adventure, offering a glimpse into the life of Grant, Elle, and baby Rob. Not everyone finds their soulmate so early on, but Katie and Carson did. They met at NC State University, where they graduated and then began the journey of a lifetime together. Upon graduation, and prior to becoming a mother, Katie had a successful career in the restaurant industry, where she had a devoted passion for her clients and their customers.  Not only did they love the big things, like a Noyes family beach trip, or the Greenbrier with the Jernigan’s, but they loved the little things as well. Whether that be a weekend at lake Tahoma, having dinner in Bermuda Run, or finding the best plate of cheese fries, Katie and Carson lived their life together to the fullest.

Along with her parents, left behind to cherish her memory is her husband of ten years, Carson S. Jernigan; three children, Grant Carson Jernigan, Elizabeth Kennedy Jernigan and Robert Scott Jernigan; father and mother-in-law, Dr. Perry Jernigan and Carol Martin Jernigan; one brother, Robert J. Noyes, IV (Maddison) and one sister, Sarah N. Hawkins (Brandon). Also surviving Kathleen are a brother-in-law, George Jernigan, III (Christy) and sister-in-law, Julie J. Galloway (Lee).
