Karen "Susie" Sue Wilson, a cherished member of her family and community, passed away peacefully at her residence on December 29, 2025. Born on July 18, 1966, in McDowell County, Karen's life was a vibrant tapestry of love, laughter, and unwavering support for her family.
As the daughter of Alice Atkins Creech (Harrold) and the late Kenneth Ray Wilson, Karen was grounded in family values, which defined her life. She was a devoted sister to Dawn Jerome (Mike) and took immense joy in the lives of her beloved nephew, Ashton Branch (Catrina), and niece, Lacie Berry (Matt). Karen had an especially deep affection for her great nieces and nephews—Max, Gannon, Daisy, and Emberlynn.
Known for her warm and generous spirit, Karen had a wonderful sense of humor that brightened the lives of everyone around her. Her commitment to her family was unwavering, characterized by constant contact and attentiveness to their needs. She embodied kindness and often extended her selfless giving nature to others, making a positive impact on those fortunate enough to know her.
Her memory will be honored in a visitation followed by a funeral service on Monday, January 5, 2026, at Beam Funeral Service & Crematory in Marion, North Carolina. The visitation is scheduled to start at 10:00 AM and will conclude at 11:00 AM, leading directly into the funeral service, which will take place from 11:00 AM officiated by Rev. Tom Thorn. Burial to follow at McDowell Memorial Park.
Susie leaves behind a legacy of love, humor, and compassion that will always be remembered by those who knew her. She will be deeply missed by her family, numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and her faithful canine companion, Benjamin.
