Karen Lynn Winters Greene

Karen Lynn Winters Greene, 78, of Marion, passed away Tuesday, May 6, 2025 at Smoky Ridge Health & Rehabilitation.

She was born in Mitchell County on March 13, 1947 to the late Frank Winters and Marjorie Hughes Winters.

Karen was a graduate of Pleasant Gardens High School and was formerly employed by Baxter Healthcare. She later owned her own cleaning business. She was a faithful member of Greenlee Baptist Church until her health no longer permitted her to attend. Karen enjoyed taking cruises with family. She loved a good shopping trip and had a true talent for arranging flowers and decorating. Karen will be remembered for having a servant’s heart. Her family and her animals always held a special place in her heart.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Gary Dean Winters.

She is survived by her husband, Thomas Emmette Greene; three children, Kimberly Greene Mitchell (Rafael), Brian Keith Greene, and Heather Nicole Greene; and four grandchildren, Ethan Mitchell (Hannah), Hannah Woody (Dylan), Krista Wylie (Noah), and Marcus Mitchell.

The family will hold a memorial service on Thursday, May 8, 2025 at 6:00 p.m. at First Christian Church with Rev. Don Mitchell officiating. They will receive friends from 5:00 until 6:00 p.m. at the church.

Memorial donations may be made to Smoky Ridge or Medi Home Hospice.
