June Black Wilson, 95, of Old Fort, passed away Thursday, September 10, 2026 at Mission Hospital in Asheville.
A native of Yancey County, she was born March 14, 1931 to the late Joseph Ernest Black and Ida Elizabeth McCanless Black.
June was the oldest member of First Baptist Church of Old Fort. She was an avid fan of the Atlanta Braves and the UNC Tarheels. In earlier times, June enjoyed traveling. She also had a heart for animals. She will be missed.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Cletus Nolen Wilson, two brothers, and five sisters.
She is survived by three children, Terry Wilson, Janice Whitley (Danny), and Glenda Brown (Ronnie); four grandchildren, Laura Hollamon (Stephen), Anna Young (Chad), Sarah Brown, and David Brown (Caitlin); and four great-grandchildren, Griffin Young, Presley Young, Whitley Hollamon, and Sam Hollamon.
In accordance with her wishes, June will be laid to rest privately at Cherry Springs Memorial Park.
